Making the decision to quit smoking is a big step. But nicotine is highly addictive, and most smokers realise that going without their cigarettes is not going to be easy. The withdrawal effects can be unpleasant and many people will quickly return to their habit. But knowing what to expect and being prepared can help you prepare yourself, and make you more likely to succeed.

One of the most immediately noticeable effects is that you may notice you are eating a lot more. This is partly because smoking has a suppressant effect on appetite, indeed it is used by many people for that purpose if they are looking to control their weight. But increased food consumption is also down to people simply trying to take their mind off the craving, and comfort eating gives them some relief. So unless you want to start piling on a few pounds, you will also need to be prepared to find ways to curb your appetite as well as your nicotine craving. Drinking more water, chewing gum or snacking on healthy foods such as fruit may help you.

The other most noticeable effect is aggression or depression. This is understandable, particularly among those who smoked heavily or for a period of several years. The physical nicotine withdrawal symptoms are unpleasant and trying to break little habits or rituals associated with the smoking is hard. You may find you feel very low, or are short tempered or snappy with those around you. There is very little you can do but ride it out, and get as much emotional support as possible from your friends and family. If it becomes unbearable, speak to your family doctor who may be able to help.

A degree of insomnia is normal when quitting smoking. Any stimulant, including nicotine, has an effect on sleep patterns so a disruption to what your body sees as normal will then have an impact on your quality of sleep. Your body will adjust, but it will take time.

Quitting smoking may be the hardest thing you ever do, but it may also be the most worthwhile. Seek out professional help when it becomes too hard and you need more advice or support, and keep reminding yourself of the reasons you wanted to quit in the first place.

I just started with the intent of drawing a simple flowing design, but eventually I got carried away and filled the page. I think it turned out preaty good.

Time is a sort of river of passing events, and strong is its current; no sooner is a thing brought to sight than it is swept by and another takes its place, and this too will be swept away. -Marcus Aurelius

I've decided nobody reads descriptions so I'll keep it short. Took the picture at the bottom myself, birds are brushes by anodyne-stock manip'd in. Applying some new techniques including going for better image quality and realism, dynamic lighting, colour schematics etc etc... also trying to "pioneer" into some new regions such as the planet aurora and the supernova remnants. Taking advice to keep things simple led me remove alot of things and discard ideas, in the end I think it definitely helped the final product.

Please note that the big hurricane weathering is happening because the two largest planets are drawing close together and so you've got some weird gravitational disturbances there. Also that the aurora is caused by the big pink star and where you can see the lights is the top/bottom pole of the planet.

I'd love any feedback so drop me any comments or crits you got and I'll be sure to read them. Prints will be available as soon as possible.
